I need to credit Cara Hale Alter of Speechskills for these suggestions: The Basics: -Have a balanced stance -Use gestures -- it's the natural thing to do -Speak louder then you think you need to -Speak slower than you think you need to -Be expressive and articulate every word -Hold eye contact with each person in the audience for 3-5 sec "Derailers" -Filler words (um, and, so etc)It's better to just pause and regroup -Extraneous movement -Emphatic gestures -Keeping your chin too high or too low -Self correcting ("I'm sorry" "I didn't mean that") Hope this helps people feel more comfortable doing their pitches!
